| In the conclusion to The Alien Chronicles trilogy, retired freedom-fighter and gladiator Ampris just wants to live secluded in the wilderness, raising her half-breed children away from Viis influence. But the wilderness is a harsh place, and the starving refugees are becoming desperate. When Ampris ventures into the Imperial Archives in hopes of gaining knowledge of how to save her people, she finds instead the truth behind the enslavement of her race – a shocking betrayal that forces her to become a warrior once more. |
| DC: The conclusion of The Alien Chronicles trilogy was a tough book to
write. Not in terms of the storyline, which was fairly straightforward,
but in how certain secondary characters needed to be introduced for subsequent
books planned for the series. So while I was busy tying off the plotlines
I’d been dealing with up to that point, I was also trying to lay a
very general groundwork for the next author who was to pick up from there. Unfortunately for the fans of The Alien Chronicles, the second and third trilogies that were originally planned have never come to be. Without giving too much of the plot away, I’ll just say that one death scene was a delight to write, and another death scene was wrenching and difficult to do. |
